WHAT IS CUBAN SALSA?
Cuban Salsa (or Casino as it is called in Cuba) is an earthy & spontaneous style of Salsa. The style emerged in Cuba from a fusion of Cuban Son and Rumba mixed with the American influence of Rock n Roll & Jazz. The origins of the name Casino are derived from the Spanish term for the dance halls where a lot of social Salsa dancing was done in Cuba during the mid-20th century and onward.It is a circular style of Salsa characterised by the Guapea step were the partners mirror each other's basic step and the Dile Que No (the Cuban equivalent of the Cross body lead). The dance features a repetitive eight-beat pattern (two bars of four beats) where the dancers dance on 3 beats & hold or accent the fourth. This style incorporates intricate patterns of arms and body movement, typically the men being "machisimo" and women being femininely sexy.Cuban Salsa is easy to learn & a lot of fun!Some popular Cuban Artist's include: Bamboleo, Charanga Habanera, Issac Delgado, Los Van Van, Manolito y su Trabuco & many more!

For students who have completed the beginners bootcamp or done a term of Beginners classes. Build on from the knowledge gained in Beginners, with some fun & interesting turn patterns and techniques & introducing you to the exciting dance Rueda (Salsa danced in a circle!).

INTERMEDIATEBOOTCAMP

For students who have completed beyond beginners or level 1 intermediate. Build your Salsa confidence for the dance floor by learning to join moves together to form smooth sequences. Learn the essential linking tools for Cuban Salsa. You will also develop stronger leading and / or following skills & learn to put more flavour into your dancing!

RUEDABOOTCAMP

Learn to dance Rueda, Cuban Salsa danced in a circle. An exciting & fun style of Salsa where you follow the move the caller has called & swap partners quickly. Rueda includes all the moves you've learnt in partner work plus some cheeky moves unique to the circle. A great way to improve your Salsa!
